Lobbying

The term ‘lobbying’ is often used to describe direct interaction with political or parliamentary audiences. This is normally done in relation to specific policy or legislative proposals, with the objective of bringing about changes to that policy or its implementation, or to influence the wider political context. More precisely, lobbying can be defined as the proper, appropriate and targeted advocacy of a position on an identified issue, with the intention of bringing about legislative, regulatory or policy change over the immediate, medium or longer terms.
