EU Law

The impact of European law, from social issues to environmental protection, continues to grow. We have worked with clients on the interpretation of EU legislation and, in particular, on the powers of the Community institutions, the proper legal basis for legislative proposals, legislative procedure and the scope for challenging Community Acts or the way they have been implemented in the UK.

Our offices in Brussels, close to the main EU institutions, allow us to work efficiently with clients and we frequently represent clients before European Commission and European Parliament hearings.

We can work with you to:

  • make representations to the EU institutions, including the European Commission and to Members of the European Parliament
  • draft amendments to proposed legislation
  • advise on procedure, how EU legislation is formulated and what action can be taken to influence it
  • advise on the applicability and effect of EU law
  • deliver implementation in the UK
  • monitor and provide political intelligence on EU institutions
