Nick has substantial experience of tram and light rail schemes - including the proposed extensions to the Nottingham Express Transit, the London City Airport and Woolwich Arsenal extensions to the Docklands Light Railway, Merseytram Line One and Crossrail - as well as several harbour developments. Recently Nick, together with Robbie Owen, has advised Nottingham City Council on its innovative proposals to levy charges on workplace parking spaces in order to cut congestion in the city.
Nick has a keen interest in constitutional developments, particularly those concerning Wales, and advises several public and private bodies on the operation of devolution. Since 1 January 2005, he has been busy advising on the new Freedom of Information and Environmental Information regimes, helping public authorities to deal with complex freedom of information requests, and helping private bodies to frame requests and ensure that sensitive information held about them is appropriately protected.
He also has wide experience of obtaining statutory authorisation of all kinds, having promoted several private bills in Parliament, dealing with matters as diverse as Charter markets, obstruction of the highway, bank mergers, the constitution of statutory companies, and Acts of the original Parliament of Scotland.
