Isobel Mundy

Senior Associate

Experience

Isobel rejoined Bircham Dyson Bell in October 2008 as a Senior Associate having previously worked at the firm from 1992 to 1998. In the intervening period, she was an Associate at a Sussex law firm specialising in Family law, and she also taught for five years in a leading Sussex Preparatory School.

Isobel is experienced in all areas of family law, including all aspects of ancillary relief and the Court of Protection. She welcomes opportunities to use the experience of her teaching practice and so has a particular interest in disputes involving children, including complex (and often intractable) disputes over residence and contact and the threat of child abduction.

She often puts her experience to good use advising parents on education-related matters, whether it is a particular issue with the school, for example, a child's education or pastoral care; or a dispute with the other parent as to which school a child should attend or over the manner in which they are educated. She has also acted in private law cases involving serious domestic violence.

Isobel's other experience includes general civil litigation, including personal injury claims and providing representation for interested parties at Inquests.

Before having children, Isobel travelled extensively and spent time living in France and Australia (where she also practised as a solicitor). Today, most of her spare time is spent with her family, although she still enjoys travelling when she can and visiting the theatre and art exhibitions. She also runs and walks, mostly on the South Downs where she once completed an overnight 60 mile walk from Petersfield to Brighton.
