    The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) appoints Bircham Dyson Bell to its legal panel

    Top 100 law firm Bircham Dyson Bell has been appointed to the legal panel able to advise the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), following a competitive tendering exercise.

    Led by public law partner David Mundy and fellow partner Chris Findley, who heads the firm’s specialist agriculture and landed estates group, the Bircham Dyson Bell team is competing to advise on a wide range of legal issues having been successfully appointed under the Framework Agreement to be able to advise on 12 of the possible 13 lots that were available.

    Rates Relief to farmers for unoccupied non-agricultural buildings

    From 1 April 2009, the Non-Domestic Rating (Unoccupied Property) Regulations 2009 mean that all empty properties in England and Wales with a rateable value of less than £15,000 will be totally exempt from business rates. The previous threshold for exemption of empty properties required a rateable value of less than £2,200.
