As you will be aware, by 1 March 2010 a radical new regime under the Planning Act 2008 will be in place for promoters seeking permission for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs).
The Act establishes a new independent decision-making body, the Infrastructure Planning Commission (IPC), which will decide applications for permission for NSIPs in accordance with national policy statements issued by Government. It also allows the IPC to issue just one permission, a Development Consent Order, largely removing the need for a series of different powers, permissions and consents under various planning regimes.
Bircham Dyson Bell are running two masterclasses on the new regime on both 22nd and 23rd February 2010 that will take participants through an application from start to finish, using practical examples at each stage. Please click here for more details about each masterclass.
Bircham Dyson Bell is a leading planning and infrastructure consultant and is now advising promoters of and objectors to NSIPs. In 2009 we wrote the only expert guide to the new regime: Butterworths Planning Law: A Practical Guide to National Infrastructure Projects. This Guide provides both promoters and objectors and their advisers with a user-friendly, practical, step-by-step explanation of the new regime. Included in the cost of each masterclass is a copy of the Guide.
